http://cheripearl.bigfolioblog.com/ Recent items en-us 40 I finished a 4 day workshop with the legendary New York photographer Jay Maisel on Sunday. It was fascinating to have the opportunity to hear him speak about his work and his 50+ year career. He's incredibly articulate, charming, the consummate New Yorker and makes for a great teacher. He was very generous and open and I'm still in awe. :) His workshop is called color, light and gesture and was terribly inspiring. I think his words of wisdom will be informing my work for a long time. A perfect backdrop for all of their out of town guests. The ceremony was at the historic Blessed Sacrament Church and the intimate reception was at one of my favorite restaurants, the Boat Street Kitchen. It was all soo charming! This was one of the most beautiful weddings I've ever shot. Vibiana is an old Catholic church in downtown L.A. that was converted to an event venue two years ago. Gillian and Tim and their friends and family were so gracious and SOO FUN. The details were ridiculously inspiring, from the professional lighting that took two days to set up to the In and Out truck that came at the end of the evening. Everything was so well planned, thanks to Gillian's planner Lisa Vorce who was being filmed by a Showtime documentary crew the entire wedding and rehearsal. What a production! I had a blast!!
